Lenoxx Phommara leads Levin Phommara by six points heading to Germany
After a sensational opening two races of the 2023 Northern Talent Cup season in Assen, a short trip over to Germany sees some of Europe’s brightest young stars return to action at the anti-clockwise Sachsenring.
After winning Race 2 and claiming P3 in Race 1 at the famous TT Circuit Assen, Lenoxx Phommara (Team Phommara) leads the Cup standings by six points, ahead of wet-weather superstar and Race 1 winner, Levin Phommara (Team Phommara).
Coming into the weekend behind the Phommara brothers in the standings is Rocco Sessler (MCA Racing), who secured sixth in Race 1 and an impressive second-place finish in Race 2 in Assen. The leading trio are covered by 11 points, but title leader Lenoxx Phommara comes into the weekend knowing he was able to bag a podium at the Sachsenring last season, so will the Swiss have the edge this time around? Time will tell.
But, hang on a minute! Let’s not forget about a few other important names in the category. Not least Jurrien Van Crugten (BB64 Academy), the red-hot Dutch superstar under the tutelage of Moto2™ rider Bo Bendsneyder, who took pole at the Sachsenring last season. He’ll surely be looking to make up for a disappointing Race 2 in Assen in which he crashed out. Martin Vincze (VM Racing Team) is another rider to watch, sitting fourth in the standings just one point behind Sessler, the Hungarian deftly resisted a race-long challenge from KIllian Holzer (HK Racing) in Race 1 to claim fourth before taking an impressive P3 on Sunday.
One other rider to look out for in Germany will be French rookie Antoine Nativi (CTM 83 Junior Team) who sits fifth in the standings after two impressive rides in the opening round in the Netherlands.
Two more races await the NTC teams and riders this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Tune into Race 1 at 14:25 (GMT +2) and Race 2 at 14:35 to see who will emerge victorious from the classic Sachsenring layout!
